Gauteng Media Development Project NPC is a non-profit organisation dedicated to community broadcasting, media education, and local upliftment — powered by the people of Gauteng.
Who We Are
Gauteng Media Development Project NPC is an ICASA-licensed community broadcasting organisation serving Sandton, Fourways, Randburg and the economic heartland of the greater Johannesburg area. We are incorporated as a Non-Profit Company under the Companies Act 71 of 2008.
Our mission is simple: give communities a voice, develop local talent, and reinvest our earnings back into the people we serve — through broadcasting, education, and meaningful community engagement.

We operate 919 FM, a licensed community radio station providing local news, music, and programming that reflects and serves the unique voice of Gauteng's northern communities.
Our Training and Development Academy equips community members — especially from previously disadvantaged backgrounds — with professional skills in radio, media, and digital production.
As a non-profit, our earnings beyond operational costs are reinvested directly into community upliftment initiatives centred on Sandton and extending to Fourways, Randburg and the broader Johannesburg area.
Our Station
919 FM is the voice of Sandton — Johannesburg's financial and cultural heartland — and the communities of Fourways and Randburg that surround it. Proudly approved and licensed by ICASA, we broadcast the music, news and stories that matter to the people at the centre of it all.

Community Upliftment
Our profits don't enrich shareholders — they enrich communities. As a registered Non-Profit Company, we are committed to applying our earnings to the benefit of the people and places we serve across Gauteng.
Membership is open to South African citizens residing within our broadcast footprint who are committed to community upliftment and the values of community broadcasting. A minimum of 3 directors guide our non-profit governance.
